I had been this place once before. Earlier this summer on a fun day exploring the Idaho cabinet mountains. But this time was different. With possibly the last clear day in the forecast and a short lived comet sighting, I knew this was the spot I wanted to create my masterpiece of this once in 80,000 year event!

Setting out an hour before sunset the light grew better and better. I just had to stop and take some snapshots along the way. Beings it was elk season in Idaho I also had my trusty 280 with me in case I should get so lucky. no such luck! But the real blessing came about half an hour after sunset. As comet Tsuchinshan began to reveal itself on the horizon. This was it! What I had came for! Composing my shot, I then took 4 long exposure images of the scene in front of me. I stitched them all together to create this distinctive and unique panorama of one of my favorite views of the valley.
