It took me about an hour of research to figure out where this place was before my Canada trip in the Fall of 2022. Everyone I had talked to went in the morning but I did not get up in time for it the first day in Banff. It is a three mile hike to get to this location. After talking to a man who is a local photographer (Shoutout to “All in the Wild” Gallery owner) he said he actually prefers it at sunset. I was already thinking on doing a sunset shoot and I needed no more push after that.

In order to get a parking spot at Moraine Lake you have to be rather lucky. The road was closed so I passed it and parked at Lake Luis. Then turned around and the miracle happened. Road was open! I get there, did the hike and got set up just in time for his absolutely magical moment. At first the wind was blowing on the lake creating little to no reflection but just as the sunset happened it calmed down. This is a 6 shot panorama on my Sony 20mm prime lens. Because of this I can print it very large!
