This winter I made a quick trip down to the Oregon Coast to photograph the King Tides and visit family. But the last year I have been fascinated with woodland photography. You see, photographing the forest is one of the harder things to do, especially natural ones not spruced up (yes that’s a pun) by man.

Well anyone who has visited the Oregon Coast can attest to the incredible lush old growth forests. I found a park at the beach bordered by such a forest, and walked in! Soon I spotted her! A massive Spruce tree with branches that looked like arms reaching out all over. But the light was really poor that evening so I left without so much as taking a picture. But late the next morning I returned. The sun was at the absolute perfect angle by the time I meandered to her, after photographing my way though the lush forest. It was about noon when the sun presented itself to me in perfect rays. My thoughts were still and my mind was calm. The trees made my thoughts speak softly and my heart was full of joy as I walked out of there, not only from knowing I captured the beauty, but from being in it.
